A Few Photos from the Epping Club / Thornleigh Brickpit Exhibition

Chris and I enjoyed the day mainly catching up with friends. The commercials were well represented but there weren't too many layouts on show with large empty spaces on the floor. I think that the club's policy of not exhibiting the same layout if it was exhibited last year is a mistake. I know of at least one previous exhibitor who was upset about not being asked this year having exhibited last year. I must say that Chris and I missed seeing him as he lives a long way away, he will know who he is.

Epping Club, please have a think about your layout policy.

Anyway, here are the photos I took at the exhibition on Saturday, not all layouts are represented and that is no reflection on their quality, I just took some photos in between socialising.

Nice photos Ray. I went Sunday also and was surprised at what wasn't there and how quiet the crowd was. I amazed myself by managing to stay for 3 hours but most of it would have been catching up with people I haven't seen for a while. I've always liked this exhibition but felt that this year was disappointing. I support your call for the organisers to rethink that policy.
Cheers

Ray,
I too went the exhibition on Sunday and was similarly surprised and a little disappointed. I'm not sure, but I suspect that there may have also been a few 'no shows'.

The one thing that I have enjoyed about the Epping show over the past few years has been the focus on new layouts. Regrettably, the club may have now exhausted the market, and consequently, will need to reconsider their approach.

cheers Phil

Ray,

Thanks for the photos - very nice indeed.

I was there Sunday as well. Not having to spend time looking at a lot of layouts gave me "extra" time to catch up and chat with other modellers and buy the odd wagon or two(thanks Steve Pracy!!) which made the day very enjoyable. Mind you, if I had made the trip from Canberra just for the exhibition then I might have thought something different. As it was, I had to come up to Sydney for family reasons so the exhibition was a nice diversion for a few hours.

I guess the message from the exhibition this year is for some of us to build a layout for exhibition purposes!

regards,
Brad
